Video: Everyday Fun with Measurement

Did you know that your child begins developing early math skills starting at birth - simply through the daily routines and activities you share together? Understanding measurement concepts - such as size, length, weight, height, and capacity - is one of these skills.

From birth to five, children develop measurement skills as they explore:

  • The size, length, height, and weight of people or objects
  • The concept of capacity
  • The idea of distance
  • The idea of time

Watch the video or download our handout with fun activities designed to support young children’s growing knowledge of measurement from birth to 5. This is a part of a series of videos Too Small to Fail developed with ZERO TO THREE highlighting the foundation of early math skills in the first five years of life, and fun, everyday activities parents and caregivers can use to support this learning.
