Guide: Creating New Posters

The Talking is Teaching poster library contains a variety of posters suitable for most settings and occasions. If you cannot find a poster there to suit your needs, you may consider creating a new one.

Portrait Layout

The “Talking is Teaching: Talk Read Sing” portrait print layouts follow a simple six- column grid that runs edge to edge both vertically and horizontally. Once the grid is established, each composition should take into account the overall shape as in the example above. In this case, the images are composed so they form a circular shape around the central title. Try not to place illustrations randomly. Each design should have no more than five speech-bubble prompts.

Download the template here.

Landscape Layout

The “Talking is Teaching: Talk Read Sing” landscape print layouts follow the same six- column grid as the portrait version. The grid lines up with the baseline of the horizontal lockup, as in these cases the logo lockup forms part of the overall design. As with the portrait versions, each composition should take into account the overall shape.

Landscape layouts are likely to vary greatly in size and aspect, and as such a detailed template is not provided. But the portrait template may be adapted, or a new template drawn based on these specifications.

Dos and Don’ts

Please do make the “Let’s talk about” silhouette the focus and center of all designs. ✔

  • Please do not recolor the central silhouette graphic. ✘
  • Please do not place the silhouette anywhere other than in the center. ✘
  • Please do not use the silhouette as a design on its own. ✘
